is no fee for a Merle Norman Cosmetics franchise, but franchisees are required
to purchase an initial package of Merle Norman products and supplies when they
sign the studio franchise agreement. The cost for this package ranges from
$12,522 to $20,074, depending on the size and location of the studio. Merle
Norman offers partial financing for the initial package, computer hardware and
software, and fixtures for qualifying franchisees. Merle
Norman provides the following range of investments required to open your
initial franchise. The range assumes that all items are paid for in cash. To
the extent that you choose to finance any of these expense items, your
front-end investment could be substantially reduced. The following figures

Norman franchisees pay annual software upgrade and support fees of $300 and
variable advertising co-op fees. Franchisees
do not pay royalty fees. What You Get—Training
and Support Merle
Norman provides an extensive pre-opening training course at company
headquarters in Los Angeles, CA. Training covers all the fundamentals of
business management; including selling techniques, POS, personnel issues and
studio management; as well as instruction in product knowledge and cosmetics
application tips. Merle Norman Cosmetics
also assists franchisees with site selection, lease review, studio design and
grand opening details, including marketing materials. Merle
Norman is committed to ongoing support of its franchisees by constantly
innovating – new products and seasonal colors are generated frequently by the
Product Marketing Department. For
marketing efforts, studio owners can utilize professionally designed,
cutting-edge marketing and advertising materials and receive assistance
developing personalized advertising plans.
Merle Norman also provides ongoing field training courses, an annual
convention and one-on-one support with Regional Business Consultants and
Regional Specialists who are available to work with franchisees on day-to-day
matters, visit studios and offer merchandising and business advice. Territory
