Take
a behind-the-scene look at economy lodging ownership
with a company that understands what it's all about.
With
4,000 hotels and 415,000 rooms worldwide, in over
90 countries, Accor is a global leader in the hotel
industry. In the U.S. and Canada, Accor represents
the upscale Sofitel and Novotel brands, and economy
lodging leaders Red Roof Inns, Studio 6 and Motel
6. Of Accor’s 1,200+ North American properties,
today 260 are Red Roof Inns, Studio 6 and Motel 6
franchises.
Our
Franchising History
Accor
began franchising the Motel 6 brand in 1996 in key
secondary and tertiary markets in the U.S. By July
2000, Motel 6 was celebrating the opening of its 100th
franchised location in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Red Roof
Inns also began franchising in 1996 and joined the
Accor network in 1999. Red Roof Inns achieved the
100th franchise milestone in July 2001 with the opening
of the beautiful Ocoee, Florida location. 2001 was
also a big year for Studio 6. This extended stay brand
opened its first franchised location in 2001, just
two years after the brand was introduced.
Although
relatively new to franchising in the U.S., Accor has
more than 75 years of combined franchising and owner/operator
experience. And our hospitality experience shows.
Franchising
opportunities are currently available for Accor’s
three U.S. economy-lodging brands, Red Roof Inns,
Studio 6 and Motel 6 in the United States.
Red
Roof Inns
As
a refuge for the road warrior for 30 years, Red Roof
Inns knows the needs of today’s value conscious
business traveler. At more than 360 locations nationwide,
Red Roof Inns offers free HBO, ESPN, and CNN; movies
and video games on-demand. Other amenities include
clock radios, photocopy and facsimile services, free
USA Today newspapers and unlimited local phone calls.
RediCard Preferred Members receive even more special
services, including the ability to earn points toward
free room nights.
Studio
6
Designed
for travelers staying five nights or longer, Studio
6 provides affordable comfort at low weekly rates.
Studio 6 features larger rooms and fully equipped
kitchens complete with dishes, utensils, cookware,
and flatware. Other amenities include voicemail, free
local phone calls, and free HBO and ESPN.
Motel
6
Motel
6, with its famous “We’ll Leave The Light
On” tagline is synonymous with value: clean,
comfortable rooms at the lowest price of any national
chain. At more than 850 properties in the U.S. and
Canada, Motel 6 offers free local phone calls, free
morning coffee, 24-hour-a-day faxing service, and
free HBO and ESPN. Most properties also have swimming
pools and guest laundry facilities.
Our
Growth Strategy
Within
the next five years Accor plans to grow its North
American portfolio to roughly 1,600 locations. An
integral part of this growth strategy will include
franchising. However, Accor is not interested in growing
for the sake of growing. We are seeking a diverse
mix of franchise partners that share the Accor spirit
of quality, fairness and respect.
A
Global Vision
With
150,000 associates in 140 countries, Accor has a global
vision. And diversity is at the heart of our vision,
our values and our successes. From a corporate standpoint,
our diversity initiatives include raising the bar
in standards for recruitment training and mentoring
for retention, diversity awareness education, key
stakeholder support and communication.
Our
diversity mission statement compliments and supports
our overall vision:
"To
be a truly inclusive organization that values and
promotes
the differences among our employees, guests, and business
partners
in the achievement of our business objectives."
Because
Accor has a strong presence in the global economy,
we are sensitive to the ever-changing demographics
worldwide. However, we also understand the value of
getting to know your own next door neighbor.
In
fact, because diversity and inclusiveness are making
things work for Accor internationally, by adapting
to local environments, Accor is cementing success
locally, community by community. Such adaptation involves
adjustment and mutual cultural change by Accor and
each local community. At Accor, we want our values
to thrive in harmony with local values and, at the
same time, work to draw local constituencies into
Accor’s vision, teaching them to aspire to the
same values that have brought Accor success around
the world.
Such
is the case for Accor in North America, particularly
in the United States. "The arithmetic is simple,"
says Georges Le Mener, a 30+ year Accor veteran who
heads up Accor North America. "We add businesses
and people who add value to the business."
At
Accor North America, we are excited about what we
are achieving and why. Diversity is at the forefront
of every facet of our business—from Human Resources
and Training to Franchising, from Procurement to Sales
and Marketing. Moreover, we devote a great deal of
time and resources to external organizations both
locally, as well as other national and community based
agencies, in an effort to increase our visibility
in the communities that we serve both in North America
and worldwide. We believe that our community outreach
is essential to the success of our overall diversity
initiative. Our commitment is strong.
Diversity
is at the very core of our corporate principals. We
don’t have this principal because it would be
viewed as the right thing to do - we have this
principal because it is the right thing to do. Our
world is becoming more diverse every day; and if Accor
is to continue to be successful, our business and
our partners - our franchise partners -
must also continue to become more diverse.
Try
Before You Buy
Our
diversity philosophy is the springboard that helped
create the Accor North America Ambassador Program.
The program’s first objective is to provide
a glimpse of the possibilities in hospitality to those
who have little or no experience or understanding
of the economy lodging industry. A potential franchisee
can experience what it might be like to be a franchisee
before actually making that commitment. “Try
it before you buy it”. Our goal is to give you
the ability to assess whether owning a motel is the
right business for you.
The
Ambassador Program is an avenue for individuals interested
in additional experience and education in the development
and operation of an economy lodging property. This
program is particularly aimed at minorities and women
- those groups that haven’t historically
been in ownership positions within the hospitality
industry. Additionally, we provide assistance for
program participants in the areas of site selection,
construction or renovation and on-going marketing
and training.
Be
in Business with a True Innovator
Internet
Marketing
Accor
has launched a Property Website Program that gives
our Red Roof Inns, Studio 6 and Motel 6 franchisees
a fast track to Internet marketing that is hassle-free
and low cost. The new program allows entrepreneurs
the opportunity to create property specific websites
without needing web design experience or training
and Accor’s franchisees’ websites will
be able to go live in as little as 48 hours from the
time they register. The new program is aimed at helping
franchisees drive bookings, increase revenue and build
profit using the Internet. Site elements include customized
property amenities, photos, features, local attractions
and airports, and website links. R.C. Patel, owner
of Diplomat Hotels, and franchisee of all three Accor
economy brands, raved, "This new program is very
impressive with its ease of use and low cost. I literally
just spent thousands of dollars more to create a website
for one of my other brands.”
E-Procurement
Saving
money is top of mind for each of us. We have launched
a franchise e-procurement program, which initiates
an unparalleled rebate program to put money back into
the hands of our franchisees. Through the company’s
new rebate program, franchisees who purchase goods,
supplies and equipment using e-procurement or directly
from any of Accor’s suppliers, do so at the
same prices offered to company-owned locations. In
addition, any purchases from Accor’s 108 approved
suppliers will result in year-end rebates to the franchisees
at the same rate as company-owned locations.
Through
programs such as Internet Marketing and E-Procurement,
we will continue to support our franchisees’
businesses. We will also continuously look forward
in finding ways to help our franchisees increase their
customer base and save every penny they can, so they
are truly successful entrepreneurs.
Supporting
Minority Outreach
We
sponsor several minority organizations which undertake
to provide access to qualified minority franchisee
candidates. These organizations include the International
Franchise Association's (IFA's) Minorities in Franchising
Committee, Asian American Hotel Owners Association
(AAHOA), National Minority Franchise Initiative (NMFI)
and the National Association of Black Hotel Owners,
Operators and Developers (NABHOOD). We will continue
sponsorship of those organizations that are effective
in recruiting qualified minority candidates.
We

With
Accor’s hospitality and operations expertise,
