Wing Zone

Are you tired of pizza? Youre probably not the only one. While the take-out and delivery market is expected to rake in $200 billion in the next five years, evening and late-night diners still have few choices beyond the usual pepperoni pie.

Its a hole in the market that Wing Zone is perfectly positioned to fill. Offering 25 flavors of jumbo buffalo wings as well as sandwiches, chicken fingers, burgers and sides, Wing Zone, which started in a fraternity-housekitchen at the University of Florida in 1991, is now filling stomachs in 24 states with its signature sauces.

Offering only take-out and delivery service and catering mostly to college and urban communities (where late-night bookworms and party animals are always on the prowl for a good meal), Wing Zone franchises require low overhead and only about 1,000 to 1,200 square feet of space.

Investment Required
The fee for a Wing Zone franchise is $25,000.

Wing Zone provides the following range of investments required to open your initial franchise. The range assumes that all items are paid for in cash. To the extent that you choose to finance any of these expense items, your front-end investment could be substantially reduced.

On-Going Expenses
Wing Zone franchisees pay a royalty fee equal to 5% of gross sales, advertising fees equal to up to 5% of gross sales and a marketing development fee equal to 0.5-1% of gross sales. Additional costs include a daily $400 per-person charge for refresher training.

What You GetTraining and Support

When Wing Zone franchisees set out to build their businesses, the franchisor pitches in to help out with territory demographics, site selection, lease negotiation, staffing, architectural and build-out requirements and signage.

Training for a franchisee and up to three other people takes place at the corporate center and on-site with instruction focusing on food preparation, delivery operations and the point-of-sale computer system.

After the unit opens, Wing Zone maintains quality control through visitations and inspections of the franchisees unit. The company also makes recommendations regarding inventory and labor costs. Ongoing consultation and marketing support is also available by phone.

Additional assistance comes with the equipment package, marketing programs, volume printing of menus, door hangers, magnets and direct mailings, product and procedure research and development, an intranet and national contracts for food supplies.

Territory
Wing Zone grants exclusive territories, the size of which depends on a units location. In rural areas, franchisees are granted territories encompassing a 3-mile radius around their unit. In urban areas, franchisees are granted territories encompassing a -mile radius around their unit.
