Kampgrounds Of America / KOA
Kampgrounds of America (KOA) has made camping convenient, fun and affordablewith the comforts of home. KOA locations can be found throughout the states, offering travelers options ranging from a basic cabin to a roomy lodge. Every cabin or lodge has beds, interior lighting and lockable doors, so visitors can always be safe and comfortable while enjoying the great outdoors.
KOA distinguishes itself from the competition by providing all the amenities that guests will need. Weary travelers on a road trip or vacationing families will appreciate the coin laundries, playgrounds and immaculate bathrooms with individual showers and dressing areas. Many campgrounds have swimming pools, and some have hot tubs, bike rentals, miniature golf, camper kitchens and nightly entertainment. The KOA Kampground Store takes care of any other needs.
KOA allows franchisees to purchase an existing KOA campground, convert an ordinary campground into a KOA or build a new KOA.
Investment Required The fee for a new Kampgrounds of America franchise is $30,000, the fee for a conversion is $22,500, and the fee for buying an existing KOA franchise is either $5,000 or $7,500.
Kampgrounds of America provides the following range of investments required to open your initial franchise. The range assumes that all items are paid for in cash. To the extent that you choose to finance any of these expense items, your front-end investment could be substantially reduced. The following figures refer to the building of a new KOA campground.
On-Going Expenses Kampgrounds of America franchisees pay a royalty fee equal to 8% of total registration receipts and an advertising fee equal to 2% of total registration receipts. Other costs include 50% of proceeds from Value Kard Sales and an annual administrative fee of $500.
